A sculpted lamp post welcomes shoppers. Though Duke’s offers a variety of cheeses as listed on the back sign, Cheshire was the most popular. By the 1870s, 12,000 tons of Cheshire cheese was produced every year. Appreciated for its varieties, it was aged to a hardness that made it possible to easily transport to London.
