Whether you call them bathing trunks, boxer shorts, sport sports, swim suits, jams or surfing trunks, the original ones were modeled (and named) after baggy Russian pajama bottoms. Created in 1963 by Dave Rochelen, these surfing trunks came in outrageous colors and big floral prints. Snubbed at first by fashion industry giants, an article in Life Magazine made this new surf wear popular throughout the world. Dave’s goal was to create clothing for fun-loving and free-spirited people who like to celebrate life.
